This year March falls entirely within the liturgical season of Lent. The Feast of St. Joseph falls on March 19. It is a month of penance, mortification and contrition dedicated to St. Joseph, the great foster father of Jesus Christ. It is a month for meditation on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, as the protector of the Church, the Eucharist, and the Christian family. March is also when Catholics celebrate St. Patrick’s feast, a popular feast for the Irish (and who isn’t on St. Patrick’s Day).

“We must plead with St. Joseph to guard the Eucharistic Lord and the Christian family during this time of peril” -- John Paul II
